Introduction
Matwings, founded in 2021 by an elite team from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is one of China's pioneering enterprises in AI-driven protein function prediction and design. The company is dedicated to combining AI technology to provide end-to-end, full-process solutions from protein design, lab validation, and pilot trial to intermediate and commercial-scale production.
Matwings independently developed AIACCLBIO® model, a universal AI platform for protein function prediction, originating from the Venus models developed by Professor Hong Liang’s team at SJTU. This innovation establishes a new paradigm-enabled automated design combined with minimal experimental validation to directly predict protein function instead of via the structure-based model, thus effectively addressing challenges that rely on "expert experience & extensive trial-and-error," including long experimental development, high costs, low positive rates, and difficulties in multi-objective optimization. AIACCLBIO® significantly enhances protein performance, shortens R&D cycles, reduces development costs, and supports clients in building high-barrier patent portfolios.
In just over two years, Matwings has delivered more than 30 protein design projects, highly credited from clients, and established long-term strategic partnerships. Currently, the company's technical services have expanded into multiple downstream fields.

Completing A round of funding
In March, CTO Mr. Liu Hao was honored as an "Outstanding Entrepreneur in Minhang District."
In April, Matwings was selected on the list of the "Synbio China 2024 Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing" New Infrastructure Brand.
In May, CTO Mr. Liu Hao was selected as one of the "Top 50 Innovative Young Entrepreneurs in Shanghai."
In September, National First Prize in the "Maker China" AIGC Competition, awarded by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

In November, Matwings completed our A round of funding with investors including Qiming VC, Yonghua Capital, Jingtao Capital and Bencao Capital.

In March, Matwings was honored with the title of "Technological SME" by the Shanghai Municipal Government.
In August, Matwings was awarded the status of "National High-tech Enterprise."
In October, Matwings completed our Pre-A round of funding with investors including GSR Ventures, Jiaoyan Capital, Bencao Capital, and Xiaochi Capital.
In November, Matwings was honored with the "Emerging Enterprise" award for technology entrepreneurship in Minhang District.
In December, Matwings received the "Core Science and Innovation Award" from Wujing Town, Minhang District.
