Selected Alongside Baidu and Alibaba: Matwings Technology's MatwingsVenus™ Named WAIC 2026 "Signature Exhibition Treasure" as the Only AI4S Agent Product Honored
Jul 15, 2026

On July 14, after rigorous evaluation across hundreds of competing AI products, Matwings Technology's dialogue-driven protein R&D agent MatwingsVenus™ (Xiaowu™) was selected for WAIC 2026's "Signature Exhibition Treasure" award — the highest honor granted to exhibiting products at the conference. It joins the ranks of landmark products from tech giants including Baidu and Alibaba, and stands as the only AI for Science (AI4S) product named to this year's list.

01 A top-tier finalist pool confirms the award's elite standing

As one of the world's most influential AI industry events, WAIC's "Signature Exhibition Treasure" award is widely known for its extremely high eligibility threshold and intense competition. Past honorees include the Huawei Ascend 384 Supernode, Alibaba Tongyi Lingma AI coding assistant, and Tesla Cybertruck — only the year's most breakthrough, trend-defining benchmark achievements that represent the direction of the global AI industry are selected for the honor.

Competition for the 2026 award was particularly fierce. According to official conference data, hundreds of AI products submitted applications this year, with only 10 selected for the final list. Fellow honorees include head enterprise benchmark projects such as the Sugon domestic 10,000-card AI supercluster, Ant Group Smart Pharmacy, Baidu Dazi companion AI, iFLYTEK AI glasses, and the Alibaba Supernode, covering cutting-edge tracks including computing infrastructure, general-purpose large models, and edge/consumer AI.

Among this field of general-purpose AI and computing hardware projects, MatwingsVenus™ — the vertical AI platform purpose-built for biological research — stood out as the only life-science focused product named to the list, sharing the honor with landmark achievements from leading global technology firms.

02 The core strengths behind MatwingsVenus™'s selection

In an era of explosive growth in general-purpose large models, what sets MatwingsVenus™ apart to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with big tech flagship products and take home this top award? Unlike general AI platforms built for broad cross-domain generalization, MatwingsVenus™ is purpose-built for protein R&D, breaking long-standing biological research bottlenecks with hard, differentiated technical capabilities:

Industry-leading technical foundation delivering research-grade precision

Trained on massive pre-training data comprising tens of billions of annotated protein sequences, MatwingsVenus™ has long ranked at the top of the Harvard Medical School ProteinGym protein engineering benchmark. It sharply improves the accuracy of in silico (dry lab) predictions for protein R&D, effectively eliminating redundant invalid experiments, drastically reducing trial-and-error costs, and shortening development cycles.

Closed-loop dry-wet integration reinventing the protein R&D model

Its original lightweight, accessible R&D model allows users to directly access an AI-powered automated lights-out laboratory via personal devices. No complex computing resource allocation, no need to occupy scarce biochemistry lab capacity: the platform delivers one-stop, end-to-end closed-loop iteration across both dry and wet lab stages of protein R&D, maximizing research efficiency and resource utilization.
